Hey guys,
Today we are going to teach you all somethings shabab (Arabic for 'teens') like about the wadi. A wadi is an area that is usually dry but turns into something like a river when it rains as it fills with water.

First of all, shabab like to drive their four wheel drive cars into flooded wadis because they like to watch the water splash over the hood of their cars.
This photo is from a very popular place to go wadi bashing and, because it is fed from springs.

Another photo from the wadi bashing place, called Wadi Khoud.

Another wadi bashing place, but this time it has no water. It does get water flow, though. when it rains.

It's not just the shabab that throw garbage in the wadis. It's the Indian workers, the picnicking families, and some tourists. On school trips, some students pick up rubbish.

  1. So sad that they throw garbage around. That happens here, also. When your mother and Uncle Andrew were young, we would walk on the mountains in Mena and sometimes we would pick up the trash that others had thrown around. XXOO --Granddad and Grandma.

    1. Aww cool. I am glad u saw my blog.
It's true.. It's sad that some people have no respect for other people's space. It would be fun for all of us to go and pickup trash togather.

  2. Yeah it's not just shabab that like the sensation of driving through wadis either ;) most men with 4wd guys like to feel like they are great explorers going into the wild! I couldn't agree with grandad more, it is sad, and hope that this habit will change as we become more aware of the harm it causes. Glad you guys are being part of the solution, yay for you!
