It Was Raining this Weekend!!

Hey guys,
So this weekend, there was a heavy rain, which lasted for three days seight. It was not so bad where I live, but in other places, like Matrah (old Muscat) and Wadi Al-Khod  got really flooded. Anyway,  am going to post a link to show you all what was going on in those places.
This one is about a girl and a boy that were swept away by the wadis.

I think some people here are not very smart when it rains. Lots of people go out in the rain to drive or walk in the wadis which is very dangerous, especially if they go while its raining, because weather and the wadis in Oman can change really fast.

  1. I think one of the reasons people aren't very smart when it rains is because it doesn't rain very much here. If you are not experienced in driving in rain or know where to go, it is dangerous.

    1. yeah.... but like maybe if people where tough how to act when it rains there wouldn't be so many accidents.

  2. I agree. However, a lot of things could be done to remedy this. I know the government always precedes a rain with a text message to remind people not to go in the wadis during a storm. However, there could be a greater awareness campaign. Perhaps one that uses a car rolled in a wadi as a visual. And it could be at a mall! (Am I full of good ideas today or what?)

  3. Maybe if more people here learned how to swim, they would have survived. Some people would drown if they were to fall in the wadis. My maid showed me a video on Face Book about a flood in Kuwait after a previous. There was a car that was tilted, and the woman inside was afraid. One guy in a dish-dosh stood in the water, and tried to help her out. He could have died! Maybe a water-safety class in schools would help people be less afraid and safer around water. Maybe they could learn how to hold their breath under water, how to float, and maybe even how to rescue someone safely. Of course, learning how to swim is always useful.
